Have you ever taste durian before ? How do you think about it? Great ,delicious or so bad? Durian taste is depending on each person that he/she like to eat it or not. If you ask me what does durian taste like? , the answer will be…
It’s hard to describe, and it depends on whether you like the fruit or not. As far as just the sensation on your tongue goes, it’s sweet and creamy. Or the best stuff is anyway. Imagine nougat that’s soft and melts in your mouth slowly. The smell’s something else. The closest thing it smells like to me is unlit gas from your stove, but sweeter. Not quite as sickly sweet as the smell of petroleum. Fragrant to me, stinky to others.
This is more about durian taste that people talked about it :
- its sweet and has a sticky texture. its rich in colour and smell too and after comsumption, it lingers on your fingers too. the smell may be too great for some but give it a try and i’m sure you;ll like it
- It smell like Liquid Petroleoum Gas. Some of people fond of it, some others really hate it …like me. I am not joking but it smell like Liquid Petroeum Gas. (Ohhh)
- I buy it fresh in Toronto in the summer the months when the odor can be a bit pungent, but if you can find a Malaysian, Thai or Vietnamese grocery store in your town, it is available in a frozen form, and if your lucky enough to have someone who makes gourmet ice creams there might be a cahcne that they may amke ice cream with it in, when I worked as a chef for a hotel chain and had a chance to go to Singapore, they made one and it was heavenly.
The taste is a light melon with a creamy almosteggy texture, a bit pineappley, with a tome of yougart and buttermilk sourness, it is a little like the West Indain soursop, or the custard apple from the Far East, but it is an acquired taste for sure.
And what’s your mind on durian? I hope you will rate it as a good or great fruit
